Kengo Kuma

A prominent Japanese architect born in 1954, Kengo Kuma is renowned for his innovative use of wood and natural materials. His work has gained international acclaim, earning numerous prestigious awards. In 1990, Kengo Kuma founded Kengo Kuma & Associates.

Currently holding positions as a University Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, he has previously taught at Keio University and the University of Tokyo. With active projects in over 40 countries, Kuma’s architectural vision seeks to establish unique connections between nature, technology, and humanity.

Some of his major projects include the Great (Bamboo) Wall in China, Starbucks Coffee at Dazaifutenmangu Omotesando in Japan, Albert Khan Museum in France, New Hans Christian Anderson Museum in Denmark, FRAC Marseille in France, and V&A Dundee in Scotland, UK.

1954年生まれの著名な日本人建築家である隈研吾は、木材や自然素材を用いた革新的な建築家として知られている。彼の作品は国際的に高く評価され、数々の名誉ある賞を受賞している。1990年、隈研吾建築都市設計事務所を設立。

慶應義塾大学、東京大学で教鞭をとった後、現在は東京大学教授、名誉教授。世界40カ国以上で活躍する隈研吾の建築ビジョンは、自然、テクノロジー、そして人間のユニークなつながりを確立することである。

主なプロジェクトに、中国の万里の長城、日本の太宰府天満宮表参道スターバックスコーヒー、フランスのアルベール・カーン美術館、デンマークの新ハンス・クリスチャン・アンダーソン美術館、フランスのFRACマルセイユ、英国スコットランドのV&Aダンディーなどがある。
