The production method of attaching wooden sliced veneer or wood-pattern sheets on an aluminium honeycomb panel at the core provides thinness and strength for wooden tables. However, in line with the architectural design by Kengo Kuma, we challenged ourselves to thin down the wooden table to the utmost limit to realize a slim, sharp appearance with only wooden materials, instead of using the aluminium honeycomb panel. We created thin, delicate edges for both sides of the table while the use of a thick, inclined top board toward the centre added strength. Without using reinforcing materials such as a middle leg and mullion, we succeeded in creating a table with a long top board yet offering an unprecedented thin effect. This wooden table was designed in pursuit of the ultimate lightness by applying structural dynamics from an architectural perspective.
